Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and reliable Nursery Caretaker / Handyperson to join our vibrant team. In this role, you will be instrumental in maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of our nursery environment. Your proactive approach will ensure our setting remains welcoming, well-kept, and fully operational for both children and staff.
This is a flexible role with no fixed hours, ideal for someone who enjoys a variety of maintenance tasks and can be available when required.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular inspections of indoor and outdoor areas to identify maintenance needs or safety hazards
- Perform basic repairs and upkeep of furniture, fixtures, fencing, and outdoor play equipment
- Support outdoor activities by ensuring play areas are safe and well-maintained
- Report any significant repairs or safety concerns to management promptly
- Assist with general tasks such as moving equipment or organising storage areas to support daily operations
Requirements
- Proven experience in caretaking, maintenance, or handyman roles within childcare or similar environments preferred
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, climbing, and outdoor work in various weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive attitude towards health and safety standards
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
- Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to childcare setting
