About us
Millie's House Nursery & Pre-School at Fulham Reach is a 92-place nursery caring for children from 3 months to 5 years. Beautifully situated on Distillery Lane in front of Frank Banfield Park and just a few minutes' walk from Hammersmith station, we are housed in a modern, purpose-built building with large windows that flood our rooms with natural light. Across five bright and spacious rooms, each age group enjoys its own dedicated room and garden area, with a private garden that gives children plenty of space to explore, play and connect with nature.
Our mission is to provide a happy, warm and cosy environment where children learn and grow as individuals, building the resilience to try new things and reach their full potential. We are now looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Room Leader to join our team and help lead the way in delivering outstanding early years care.
About the role
As Room Leader you will take day to day responsibility for the smooth running of your room, leading a team of practitioners to deliver high quality care and education in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). You will be a positive role model, mentoring your team while building strong, trusting relationships with children and their families.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and supporting your room team to deliver an engaging, child-led curriculum that meets the needs of every child
- Acting as a key person for a group of children, planning for their individual learning and development and maintaining accurate observations and records
- Overseeing the planning and provision of a stimulating, safe and welcoming learning environment, making the most of our indoor-outdoor flow and dedicated garden areas
- Building positive partnerships with parents and carers, keeping them informed and involved in their child's progress
- Ensuring all safeguarding, health and safety, and welfare requirements are met at all times, in line with EYFS and our policies
- Supporting the induction, mentoring and development of team members, including apprentices and students
- Working closely with the Nursery Manager and Deputy to maintain the highest standards of care and continuous improvement
About you
We are looking for someone who is passionate about early years and ready to lead by example. You will have:
- A full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification (or above) as recognised by the Department for Education (essential)
- Previous experience working in an early years setting, with some experience of leading or supervising others
- A secure, up to date knowledge of the EYFS, safeguarding and child development
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to motivate and support a team
- A warm, caring and professional approach, and a genuine commitment to giving children the best possible start
- A paediatric first aid certificate is desirable, though we can support you to gain this
All appointments are subject to our safer recruitment process, including an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and proof of right to work in the UK.
What we offer
- Competitive salary depending on qualifications and experience
- Ongoing training and genuine opportunities for career progression
- A supportive and friendly team in a beautiful, well-resourced setting
- 95% childcare discount
