The Operational Oversight Manager is responsible for supporting the Head of Operational Oversight in providing effective oversight, monitoring and challenge across operational functions, outsourced service providers, and key business processes. The role plays a critical part in ensuring operational activities are delivered in line with regulatory requirements, internal policies, service level expectations, and risk appetite.
The role will assist in the production of governance reporting, leading oversight assurance reviews, supplier monitoring, risk assessments, control effectiveness testing, and remediation activity, helping to ensure a strong operational control environment across the business.
Key responsibilities:
Operational Supplier and Outsourcing Oversight
- Support the delivery of the Operational Oversight Framework across the business and third party suppliers.
- Conduct technical oversight assurance reviews of key operational processes and controls.
- Review service reports, MI packs and operational performance data.
- Monitor supplier performance against contractual obligations and service level agreements, agreed service standards, KPIs and KRIs.
- Identify emerging risks, control weaknesses and operational issues, escalating where appropriate.
- Maintain oversight records, evidence and action trackers.
- Assist with supplier governance meetings and document key outcomes and actions.
- Track supplier remediation activity and ensure timely completion of actions.
Governance and Management Information
- Produce high-quality management information, dashboards and oversight reporting.
- Prepare governance packs for committees, boards and senior management meetings.
- Analyse trends, operational incidents and performance metrics to identify areas requiring attention.
- Maintain action logs and provide regular progress updates.
Risk and Controls
- Complete Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs) and control reviews.
- Lead thematic reviews and deep-dive investigations.
- Support assurance delivery across the 3 lines of defence
Regulatory and Compliance Support
- Assist in ensuring operational processes align with FCA regulations and internal policies.
- Support regulatory change implementation impacting operational functions.
- Provide evidence and information in support of audits, compliance reviews and regulatory requests.
- Maintain awareness of regulatory developments relevant to operations and outsourcing.
Stakeholder Management
- Build effective working relationships across Servaada Operations, Wealthtime Risk, Compliance, Technology and third-party providers.
- Support and challenge operational areas where performance, risk or controls fall below expectations.
- Communicate findings clearly and professionally to stakeholders at all levels.
- Support the Head of Operational Oversight with ad hoc requests, investigations and strategic initiatives.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, controls and customer outcomes.
- Support the development and embedding of enhanced policies, procedures and operating models.
- Drive a culture of accountability, ownership and continuous improvement across Financial Crime Operations.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives designed to strengthen Wealthtime's financial crime framework.
Essential
- Experience within Financial Services, Wealth Management, Platforms, Asset Management or Banking.
- Experience of outsourced service provider oversight.
- Experience operating within key regulation. Consumer Duty/CASS/SYSC 8/MIFID 2 etc
- Understanding of operational risk management and control environments.
- Experience analysing data and producing management information.
- Strong report writing and presentation skills.
- Excellent organisational and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to challenge constructively and independently.
- Strong attention to detail with a risk-focused mindset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
Desirable
- Knowledge of FCA regulatory requirements, including SYSC and outsourcing expectations.
- Experience supporting governance committees and board reporting.
