We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Residential Support Worker to join our team, providing care and support in a six bed, Ofsted Regulated Children's Home located in Portsmouth.
As a key part of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting day-to-day, driving team performance, and ensuring exceptional service delivery, in line with Ofsted Regulations.
This is a fantastic opportunity for motivated individuals with strong skills and the ability to use trauma informed approaches to care and support.

Role Overview
As a Children’s Senior Residential Support Worker of a 6-bed property, you will:
- Create a Warm, Structured Environment: Support daily routines—personal care, meals, medication—so that every child feels secure and valued.
- Build Trusting Relationships: Offer consistent emotional support, complete key work sessions, implement positive behaviour strategies, and help reduce anxiety.
- Champion Learning & Growth: Guide homework, encourage school attendance, and lead fun social or recreational activities to boost development.
- Safeguard & Protect: Follow our rigorous safeguarding procedures to keep children safe, logging observations and reporting concerns promptly.
- Collaborate with Experts: Work closely with Social Workers, Therapists, Youth Offending Teams, and your amazing in-house team to deliver truly person-centred care.
- Reporting and Recording: You will be responsible for completing monthly reports, reviewing child-centred documents and supporting in shift lead activities.
What You’ll Bring:
- Leading by example to support and motivate a team of Residential Support Workers
- Ensuring a high standard of care and safeguarding is maintained at all times
- Supporting children with their individual care plans, routines, and goals
- Promoting independence, resilience, and emotional wellbeing
- Assisting with staff development, shift planning, and incident debriefs
- Building trusted, therapeutic relationships with young people
- Working closely with families, social workers, and other professionals
- Good understanding of the Ofsted Regulations and 9 the Quality Standards
Essential:
- Enhanced DBS clearance
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Minimum of 1 years' experience working in a children’s residential setting
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and trauma-informed practice
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Resilience, empathy, and commitment to improving children’s lives
Desirable:
- Level 4/5 qualification or willingness to work towards
- A full UK driving licence
