Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Chef to join our care home team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for creating nutritious and delicious meals tailored to the dietary needs and preferences of our residents. As a Chef, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of residents by delivering meals that meet high standards of taste, quality, and safety. Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare nutritious, balanced menus that meet residents’ dietary requirements, including special diets and allergens.
- Lead and supervise kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations.
- Ensure all meals are prepared and presented to the highest standards of taste and quality.
- Maintain strict hygiene and cleanliness standards in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Monitor stock levels, manage inventory, and coordinate the ordering of fresh and high-quality ingredients.
- Train kitchen staff on food preparation techniques, health and safety protocols, and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with care staff to address residents' specific dietary preferences and nutritional needs.
- Adapt recipes to accommodate resident feedback and seasonal ingredients.
- Regularly review and update menus to align with residents' changing needs and preferences.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Chef or similar role, preferably within a care home or healthcare setting.
- Strong understanding of nutrition and special dietary requirements, including diabetic, low-sodium, and allergen-free diets.
- Leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage a team effectively.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP principles, and best practices in kitchen operations.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines without compromising quality.
- A compassionate and empathetic approach, with a focus on improving residents' dining experiences.
- Relevant culinary qualifications (e.g., NVQ in Professional Cookery or equivalent).
