Job Overview
We are looking for a reliable, practical and hardworking General Maintenance Person to help maintain our premises to a high standard. This varied role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work and takes pride in keeping buildings and outdoor areas safe, tidy and well-presented.
The successful candidate will be capable of working independently, managing their own workload and carrying out a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general building maintenance and repairs.
- Painting, decorating and touch-up work.
- Basic carpentry, plumbing and DIY repairs.
- Assemble, repair and maintain fixtures, fittings and furniture.
- Gardening and grounds maintenance, including mowing, weeding, hedge trimming and keeping outdoor areas tidy.
- General upkeep of buildings, car parks and external areas.
- Replace light bulbs and carry out minor electrical maintenance where competent.
- Identify maintenance issues and report any larger repairs required.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
- Support with seasonal maintenance tasks and occasional office moves or furniture assembly.
- Undertake other reasonable maintenance duties as required.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Previous experience in a general maintenance, caretaker, handyman or facilities role.
- Competent in painting and decorating.
- Practical DIY skills across a range of trades.
- Experience of basic gardening and grounds maintenance.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Reliable, trustworthy and punctual.
- Good physical fitness, with the ability to carry out manual tasks.
- Full UK driving license
Desirable
- Experience in basic plumbing or carpentry.
- Knowledge of health and safety practices.
- Experience using a range of hand and power tools.
