CNC Machine Setter/Operator – 5 Axis Milling
About Us
We are a small, highly efficient and technically focused CNC machine shop specialising in 5-axis machining for high-end customers across industries including Formula 1, motorsport and automotive.
The Role
Following significant expansion over the past year, we are looking for a skilled and motivated CNC Machine Setter/Operator to join and support our growing team. Working closely with Production Engineering, you will be responsible for producing high-quality metallic components on our 5-axis milling machines.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and operate Hurco and Heidenhain CNC milling machines.
- Inspect components as they come off the machine.
- Liaise with Production Engineering regarding offline programming and machining requirements.
- Manage workflow effectively to optimise spindle time.
- Prepare tooling and materials.
- Finish components, including tapping, deburring and packing.
- Carry out basic machine maintenance and servicing when required.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
- Run multiple machine centres where required.
Requirements
- Previous experience setting and operating CNC milling machines.
- Experience working with CNC machinery.
- Hurco WinMax control experience is preferred but not essential.
- Heidenhain control experience is preferred but not essential.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Basic inspection and GD&T knowledge.
- Competent in component finishing, including tapping and deburring.
- Comfortable working to deadlines and production targets.
- Good understanding of and commitment to Health & Safety regulations.
- Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good workload management and timekeeping skills.
- Engineering qualification is preferred but not essential.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Right to work in the UK.
