Paralegal Role- Clinical Negligence Team
Hay & Kilner are a full-service law firm based in the heart of Newcastle city centre and we are currently expanding our team.
Hay & Kilner provides a comprehensive service across an extensive range of practice areas, which covers all our client’s legal requirements.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Paralegal to join our Clinical Negligence team and work at our modern Newcastle city centre office.
This position would be working business hours from Monday to Friday. Similar experience in a previous role would be advantageous.
Successful applicants will be responsible for:
- Assisting the solicitors in the team by dealing/speaking with existing and new clients
- Advising, assisting and representing clients while maintaining an exceptionally high standard of client care at all times
- Evaluating and assessing information, evidence, and legal issues
- Providing support to solicitors in the team in running their caseload
- Contributing to marketing and business development activities for the team and firm.
They will be able to get involved in a variety of matters including:
- Drafting, preparing, and proofreading legal documents
- Taking initial instructions and preparing statements
- Reading and summarising documents e.g. medical notes, contact records etc
- Organising medical records
- Assisting with preparation of the Court Bundle and other court documentation e.g. case summaries and chronology in order to ensure cases are fully prepared for hearing
- Carrying out legal research
- Performing general administrative duties such as filing, letter writing, billing clients, scheduling meetings, and responding to telephone queries
The ideal candidate will be:

· Organised / good attention to detail
· Enjoy working with figures and be proficient with Excel spreadsheets
· Able to work as part of a team
· Able to maintain their knowledge and skills in relevant practice area keeping up to date with relevant legislation and case law.

Pay: £24,151.00-£26,000.00 per year
