We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Early Years Room Leader to oversee and support our client nursery environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, along with a genuine passion for working with young children. This role offers an opportunity to lead a team, implement high standards of childcare, and contribute positively to children's early development within a nurturing setting. Applicants should have relevant childcare experience, preferably within nursery settings, and hold appropriate early childhood education qualifications. A valid driving licence is desirable to facilitate local travel as required.
Duties
- Lead and supervise the daily activities within the Early Years Room, ensuring a safe, stimulating, and caring environment for children.
- Plan and implement age-appropriate educational programmes that promote children's development across all areas.
- Support and mentor junior staff members, fostering a team-oriented atmosphere focused on high-quality childcare.
- Monitor children's progress and maintain accurate records of their development milestones in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding their child's progress, behaviour, and any concerns that may arise.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, safeguarding policies, and best practice guidelines at all times.
- Organise resources and materials needed for daily activities whilst maintaining an organised nursery environment.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of nursery practices through participation in staff meetings and training sessions.
Requirements
- Proven management and leadership experience within a childcare or nursery setting.
- Extensive experience working directly with children in early childhood environments.
- Relevant childcare qualifications recognised within the UK (e.g., Level 3 Childcare or equivalent).
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge of child development principles and early childhood education frameworks.
- Ability to organise tasks efficiently whilst maintaining a nurturing approach towards children.
- Flexibility to work hours that may include mornings, afternoons, or evenings as required by the nursery schedule.
- A valid driving licence is preferred to support local travel needs related to the role.
