Responsibilities
- Operate HGV vehicles in accordance with road safety regulations and company policies
- Conduct pre-journey vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthiness and report any defects
- Safely load, secure, and unload cargo, ensuring proper handling and adherence to weight limits
- Plan routes effectively to optimise delivery schedules and minimise delays
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation and communicate with dispatch teams regarding progress or issues
- Comply with all legal requirements for commercial driving, including tachograph regulations and driver hours legislation
- Follow health and safety protocols at all times during driving and loading activities
- Assist with the loading and unloading process when required, ensuring goods are handled securely
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly with fridge trailers or similar vehicles
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices for HGV operation
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving licence (Class 1) Max 6 points
- Delivery driver experience is highly desirable, demonstrating reliability and punctuality
- Ability to plan routes efficiently and adapt to changing schedules or conditions
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail in documentation and vehicle maintenance records
- Physical fitness to handle loading/unloading tasks when necessary
- Professional attitude with a focus on safety, punctuality, and customer service
