Job Description: Theatre Scrub Practitioner
An exciting new opportunity has arisen working in the private healthcare setting.
A luxurious hospital specialising in a range of surgery and treatments has opened up in heart of the North East (Gateshead), providing 5-star treatment and high quality care to each individual who walks through the door.
We have 2 fully equipped theatres, 1 minor op theatre, 4 recovery bays, 4 admission/discharge bay, 3 guest en-suite bedrooms. We provide a personalised service for each patient within this setting.

Job Summary
To be responsible for the day to day provision of high quality patient care in the theatre environment
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Able to communicate effectively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team, patients and relatives.
- To report and be professionally responsible to the theatre manager
- Provide excellent care for patients and conduct all required tasks
- Prepare in advance for theatre lists, help maintain adequate stock levels
- Escalate concerns to theatre manager
- Safeguarding of patients
- Ensure relevant safety and equipment checks are performed
- Provision of infection prevention and control measures
- Management of medicines and theatre stock
- Safety of premises- Report any faulty appliances, damaged equipment or potential hazards
- Completion of audit / cleaning check lists / daily CQC clinical checks
- Completion of incident forms
- Implementation and audit of company policies, procedures and protocols
- Regularly assess and evaluate practice by audit and implement change in a participative manner with all colleagues
- Requirement to take part in our ‘out of hours’ service when required.
- Maintain a professional manner
- Assistance with patient positioning in theatre and application of garments and clothing
- Update and communicate with the theatre coordinator of duties completed
- Promote privacy, dignity and respect of the patients and promote wellbeing
- Ability to maintain accurate records, electronic records and good lines of communication
- Other duties as may be reasonably agreed and requested by management or colleagues
- Attend regular appraisal/monitoring/supervision meetings with their line manager when required to do so.
- Attend refresher training and occupational training sessions as appropriate.
- Attend mandatory training and update sessions, including equipment training as per policy.
- Actively contribute to the evaluation and feedback of equipment and consumables
- Ensure AFPP guidance and resus council guidance is upheld
Essential/Desirable Attributes
- Registered ODP/Nurse
- High standard of personal behaviour
- Desirable 5+ years in healthcare
- Essential scrub experience
- Desirable experience in anaesthetics, recovery, admission/discharge
- Participate in personal development review
- Have union/insurance cover if required
- Maintain update DBS
- Maintain active in date ILS
