We are currently seeking a knowledgeable, organised and proactive individual to join our Neighbourhood Services team as an Arboricultural Operational Supervisor.
This is an important role within the Arboricultural Operational Service, supporting the safe and effective management of tree works across Neath Port Talbot. You will help oversee the day-to-day management, supervision and delivery of arboricultural operations, including remedial tree works programmes, contractor coordination, tree inspections, public enquiries and emergency response arrangements.
As an Arboricultural Operational Supervisor, you will supervise arboricultural staff and contractors, help plan and coordinate work programmes, and ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
Your daily routine will include:
- Overseeing and coordinating arboricultural works and remedial tree works programmes.
- Supervising works undertaken by internal teams and external contractors.
- Carrying out tree inspections and ensuring appropriate follow-up action is arranged.
- Responding to tree-related enquiries, correspondence and complaints from residents, officers and other stakeholders.
- Maintaining health and safety standards, risk assessments, safe systems of work and relevant industry guidance.
- Supporting emergency work planning during storm conditions or other operational pressures.
About you:
Do you have:
- Significant experience in the arboricultural or a related industry.
- Knowledge of tree inspections and tree management.
- A minimum Level 2 arboricultural qualification, for example a Royal Forestry Society Certificate in Arboriculture or ISA Certified Arborist examination.
- The ability to supervise arboricultural staff and contractors.
- Good literacy, interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to deal sensitively with the public and colleagues.
- A full driving licence and a flexible approach to work.
We would welcome those with experience in the following roles: Arboricultural Supervisor, Tree Officer, Arborist, Tree Inspector, Grounds Maintenance Supervisor, Contract Supervisor, or similar operational arboriculture and environmental services roles.
