Job Summary
DSI London is looking for an experienced and highly skilled Couture Machinist to join our full-time production team at our South London studio.
This is a hands-on role within a creative and hardworking couture environment, producing Ballroom & Latin garments, stage costumes and performance wear for customers and productions worldwide.
We are looking for someone with excellent sewing skills who takes genuine pride in creating beautiful garments to the highest possible standard.
This is not mass production. Our garments are individually made, highly specialised and often created for important performances, productions and international events.
The successful candidate will work closely with pattern cutters, designers and fellow machinists as part of a dedicated production team, helping bring garments to life from concept through to completion.

The role includes:
- Constructing couture garments to a high standard
- Working closely with pattern cutters and designers
- Supporting fittings and garment adjustments where required
- Contributing towards the quality and finish of each garment
- Helping maintain high production and craftsmanship standards
- Working positively as part of a team environment
- We are particularly interested in individuals who enjoy being involved in the complete making process and who take pride in seeing their work appear on stage, in film, television and major live productions.Our work includes projects connected with Moulin Rouge, Hamilton, the Royal Opera House, Hercules and major international Ballroom & Latin productions.We are looking for someone who is:

- Experience within couture, stage costume, Ballroom & Latin fashion or performance wear would be highly advantageous.
- Operate specialised sewing machines to construct couture garments with precision and care
- Interpret design specifications and technical drawings to ensure accurate execution of each piece
- Select appropriate fabrics, threads, and notions for each project, maintaining quality standards
- Collaborate closely with designers and pattern makers to achieve desired fit and finish
- Conduct fittings and make necessary adjustments to ensure perfect tailoring
- Maintain a clean, organised workspace and ensure all equipment is properly maintained and calibrated
- Follow health and safety guidelines to create a safe working environment for all team members
Experience
- Proven experience in sewing, preferably within a couture or bespoke tailoring environment
- Warehouse experience is advantageous, particularly in handling specialised fabrics or materials
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to craftsmanship excellence
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team
