Healthcare Assistant – Children's Complex Care (Community)
Location: London (Zones 1–3)
Job Type: Full-Time | Flexible Shifts Available (40 Hours per Week)
Pay Rates:
- Weekdays: £14.80 per hour
- Weeknights & Saturdays: £17.00 per hour
- Sundays: £17.00 per hour
- Bank Holidays: £18.00 per hour
About the Role
We are recruiting compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Assistants to provide high-quality, person-centred care to children and young people with complex healthcare needs within their own homes, schools and community settings.
Working as part of a specialist nurse-led team, you will play an important role in supporting children to live safely and independently while delivering care in accordance with individual care plans.
Main Responsibilities
- Deliver person-centred care within home and community settings.
- Support children with daily living activities and personal care.
- Administer medication following training and competency assessment.
- Use specialist clinical equipment where required.
- Maintain accurate care records and documentation.
- Work closely with families and the wider clinical team.
- Attend mandatory training, supervision and competency assessments.
- Promote safeguarding, dignity and confidentiality at all times.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Healthcare Assistant or Support Worker.
- Experience working with children or young people (complex care experience is desirable).
- Community care experience is advantageous.
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) is preferred.
- Excellent communication and record-keeping skills.
- A caring, compassionate and professional approach.
Desirable Clinical Skills
Experience in one or more of the following is advantageous:
- Tracheostomy Care
- Ventilation
- PEG/Gastrostomy Care
- Oral Suction
- Complex Seizure Management
- Cough Assist
- Medication Administration
