Join our dedicated team as a Support Worker and make a meaningful difference. In this rewarding role, you will provide person-centered support to individuals who may require assistance with maintaining their independence, managing their well being, and developing the skills needed to live successfully within the community.
You will work closely with individuals to understand their needs, encourage their personal goals, and provide practical and emotional support while promoting choice, dignity, independence, and inclusion.
This role is ideal for someone who is compassionate, reliable, patient, and passionate about helping vulnerable adults achieve greater independence and improve their quality of life.
9:30am - 5:30pm, Flexible hours available.
Duties
- Provide person-centered support to adults living within supported accommodation
- Provide regular support to individuals who require assistance with maintaining and developing their independent living skills
- Support individuals with their emotional wellbeing and encourage positive engagement with their daily lives
- Encourage and motivate individuals to work towards their personal goals and aspirations
- Support individuals with practical aspects of independent living, including household tasks, meal preparation, shopping, budgeting, appointments, and accessing community services where required
- Provide appropriate support and assistance to individuals with physical, learning, or intellectual disabilities
- Promote independence, choice, dignity, and respect in all aspects of support
- Encourage individuals to participate in social, recreational, and community activities
- Develop positive and professional relationships with individuals while maintaining appropriate boundaries
- Complete and contribute to individual support plans and risk assessments, ensuring support remains appropriate to the individual's needs
- Conduct regular property visits and monitor the individual's wellbeing and living environment
- Identify and report any changes in an individual's circumstances, behaviour, or wellbeing
- Maintain accurate and confidential records, including support notes, property visit records, and incident reports
- Follow safeguarding procedures and report concerns appropriately
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, families, social care professionals, healthcare professionals, and other relevant services where appropriate
- Promote a safe, respectful, and supportive living environment
- Respond appropriately to incidents and emergencies in accordance with company procedures
- Maintain confidentiality and respect each individual's privacy, dignity, and personal choices
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Support Worker, Housing Support Worker, Supported Living Worker, Care Worker, or in a similar role is desirable
- Experience supporting vulnerable adults is highly desirable
- A genuine passion for helping people develop their independence and achieve their personal goals
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive and trusting professional relationships
- Compassionate, patient, respectful, and non-judgemental approach
- Ability to encourage and motivate individuals while respecting their choices and independence
- Ability to recognise and respond appropriately to changes in an individual's wellbeing or circumstances
- Good organisational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and respect individuals' privacy and dignity
- Ability to work independently and use initiative, while also working effectively as part of a team
- Ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with challenging or unexpected situations
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the health, safety, and well being of vulnerable adults
