Job Introduction
Rent Officer
Make a real difference to people's lives
At Bromsgrove District Council and Redditch Borough Council, our customers are at the heart of everything we do. We are looking for people who are passionate about helping others, confident in having difficult conversations, and motivated by achieving positive outcomes.
You may not currently work in housing, and that's okay.
If you have experience supporting customers, managing challenging situations, solving problems, collecting payments, negotiating solutions, or helping people access support, you could already have the skills we're looking for.
We value attitude, behaviours and potential just as much as direct experience.
About the role
As a Rent Officer, you'll be responsible for helping tenants sustain their tenancies while ensuring rental income is collected fairly and effectively.

Visiting customers in their homes to understand their circumstances
-

-
Investigating cases and taking appropriate action where rent arrears occur
-
Representing the Council in court proceedings when necessary
-
Finding solutions that balance compassion with accountability
This is a role where strong communication, resilience and problem-solving skills are just as important as technical knowledge.
Who We're Looking For

Put people first, treating everyone with dignity, respect and understanding.
-
Communicate effectively, influencing and negotiating to achieve positive outcomes.
