Buildscout was founded with a clear mission: to empower property and construction professionals by transforming planning application data into valuable sales opportunities.
We are looking for a Business Development Representative to help drive our ambitious growth plans, generate new business opportunities, and build meaningful client relationships.
As one of the earlier members of the Buildscout sales team, you will have the opportunity to take ownership of your work, contribute ideas, and play a meaningful role in the growth of the business.
Buildscout is backed and supported by Searchland, the UK’s leading B2B proptech company transforming how businesses and individuals access and leverage property data.
As a Business Development Representative at Buildscout, you will take ownership of the sales cycle, from generating and prospecting new opportunities through to product demonstrations, negotiation and closing deals.
You will proactively engage prospective clients through outbound activity, build strong relationships, understand their commercial needs, and demonstrate how Buildscout can help them generate high quality construction leads.
This is a hands on sales role where you will work closely with the Commercial Director and wider team, while also having the opportunity to share ideas that help improve our sales approach, customer experience and product.
- Take ownership of your outbound prospecting process, using tools such as HubSpot, LinkedIn, Google and Notion to identify and research high-quality prospects.
- Cold calling is a major focus of the BDR role at Buildscout. You will be expected to maintain a minimum of 90 minutes of daily talk time, using calls as a primary channel to engage prospects, qualify opportunities and generate meetings.
- Book a minimum of 10 qualified meetings per week for the Business Development Manager (BDM), ensuring meetings are well researched and provide clear context on the prospect, their business and the potential opportunity.
- Build and manage targeted outbound campaigns across email, LinkedIn and cold calling to generate new sales conversations.
- Consistently prospect into new accounts and identify relevant decision-makers and senior stakeholders within target businesses.
- Qualify prospects based on their business needs, potential fit and likelihood of benefiting from Buildscout.
- Create and maintain qualified sales opportunities in HubSpot, ensuring all relevant information, activity and next steps are accurately recorded.
- Manage your own outbound pipeline and activity levels, taking responsibility for achieving agreed weekly and monthly KPIs.
- Work closely with your BDM to identify target accounts, refine messaging and prioritise the highest-value opportunities.
- Follow up consistently with prospects across multiple channels to maximise conversion from initial outreach to booked meeting.
- Research businesses, projects and individuals within the built environment sector to identify relevant sales triggers and opportunities.
- Keep up to date with trends across the construction, property and built environment sectors to improve the relevance and quality of your outreach.
- Track your own performance and use data to continuously improve outreach, conversion rates and meeting quality.
- Provide feedback to your BDM and Commercial Director on prospect responses, objections, messaging and opportunities within the market.
- Once an opportunity is qualified and passed to the BDM, support the handover process and remain involved where appropriate to help progress the relationship.
- Maintain a high standard of CRM hygiene, ensuring prospecting activity, conversations, meetings and opportunities are accurately recorded.
- Right to work in the UK. We cannot offer sponsorship for this role.
- London based or within reasonable commuting distance of our Old Street office.
- A genuine interest in sales and a desire to develop within a commercial role.
- Self motivation, resilience and the ability to thrive within a fast paced startup environment.
- Strong communication skills and confidence engaging prospective customers.
- Strong presentation and negotiation skills, both virtually and in person.
- Ability to manage your time independently and work proactively.
- Comfortable learning and using CRM and sales tools.
- Previous experience with HubSpot is helpful but not essential, as training will be provided.
- An interest in real estate, construction, property technology or SaaS would be beneficial.
