Brightening Lives is a leading provider of high-quality, person-centred care and support to individuals with complex health needs across North Yorkshire. We are committed to helping the people we support live fulfilling, independent lives while ensuring their health, safety, dignity and wellbeing remain at the heart of everything we do.
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Registered Nurse to join our dedicated team in Whitby. This is an exciting opportunity to support a vibrant lady with an acquired brain injury who lives in her own home and enjoys an active social life.
She has a fantastic sense of humour and enjoys getting out and about in the community, whether that’s going to the pub, shopping, visiting the cinema or theatre, or trying something new. We are looking for a Nurse who is compassionate, confident, reliable and able to bring a positive approach to care.
The Role
This is a unique nursing opportunity offering a 1 week on / 1 week off rota, providing excellent continuity for the individual while giving you a full week away from work between shifts.
During your week on, you will work sleeping night shifts within the individual’s home. You will be supported throughout the night by a dedicated Waking Night Support Worker, providing additional support overnight.
You will work closely with the Clinical Package Lead Nurse, Personal Assistants, Support Workers, family members and wider healthcare professionals to ensure safe, consistent and person-centred care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care within the individual’s home and during community activities.
- Monitor health and wellbeing and respond appropriately to any changes.
- Administer and manage medication safely and in line with legislation.
- Follow and contribute to clinical care plans, risk assessments and health protocols.
- Liaise with GPs, therapists, community nurses and other healthcare professionals.
- Promote independence, dignity, choice and emotional wellbeing.
- Support the individual to maintain her social life and participate in activities she enjoys.
- Work collaboratively with the Waking Night Support Worker and wider care team.
- Contribute to safeguarding and infection prevention and control.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records.
- Provide clinical guidance and support to colleagues when required.
About You
You will be a Registered Nurse with a current NMC PIN and at least two years’ post-registration experience. Experience within complex care, community nursing or home-based care would be advantageous.
You will have strong clinical and communication skills, a compassionate approach and the confidence to work independently. A good sense of humour, flexibility and a genuine commitment to person-centred care are essential.
You must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to your own vehicle.
