Seasonal Guest Assistant
Location: Welsh Mountain Zoo, Colwyn Bay
Salary: National Minimum Wage
Hours: Zero-hours contract, working over a 7-day rota including weekends and bank holidays
Contract: Seasonal until 1 November 2026
Help create unforgettable days at the National Zoo of Wales.
At Welsh Mountain Zoo, our mission is simple: To inspire passion for nature with every unforgettable visit. Every visitor, every partnership and every commercial decision helps us protect wildlife, educate future generations and secure the long-term future of the zoo.
Every smile you create, every question you answer and every visitor you welcome helps us achieve that mission.
We're looking for enthusiastic Seasonal Guest Assistants to join our Guest Services team during one of our busiest and most exciting times of the year. If you enjoy working with people, thrive in a fast-paced environment and want to be part of a charity making a real difference for wildlife, we'd love to hear from you.
What you'll be doing
As a Seasonal Guest Assistant, you'll be at the heart of the visitor experience. You'll welcome guests, provide information, support admissions, work in our retail shop and help ensure everyone enjoys a safe, memorable and enjoyable day at the zoo.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming visitors with a friendly, professional approach.
- Selling and redeeming admission tickets.
- Providing information about the zoo, our animals, daily talks and facilities.
- Working in our retail shop, processing transactions and maintaining attractive displays.
- Promoting zoo memberships, animal adoptions, experiences and guidebooks.
- Explaining the benefits of Gift Aid and processing Gift Aid declarations.
- Assisting visitors in our interactive habitats, including the Butterfly House.
- Helping keep our grounds, shop and visitor areas clean, safe and welcoming.
- Supporting opening and closing procedures.
- Following health and safety procedures at all times.
No two days are the same
One day you could be welcoming families as they begin their adventure, the next helping visitors discover their favourite animals, assisting in our Butterfly House or recommending the perfect souvenir from our gift shop. Every day brings new opportunities to create memorable experiences while supporting wildlife conservation.
