Overview
Swim City Swim School is looking for a PART-TIME SWIM TEACHER, based in Harton or Sunderland.
We, as a swim school, have a passion for teaching and want someone with the same drive to join our team. We're now one of North East England’s largest swim schools and set for even greater success.
The role includes building our continued growth, managing, recording progress, teaching and being a role model to the children you teach.

We are looking for an individual who is target-driven and who is hungry to go the extra mile to help others succeed. We have hours Monday to Friday 4-8pm and weekends 8-1pm.
Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and safe swimming lessons tailored to the individual needs of students
- Monitor students’ progress and provide constructive feedback to encourage improvement
- Ensure all safety protocols are strictly followed during lessons, including water safety rules
- Maintain a clean and organised poolside environment at all times
- Communicate effectively with parents or guardians regarding student progress and any concerns
- Assist in organising swimming events or competitions as required
- Uphold professional conduct and promote a positive attitude towards water safety and learning
Skills
- Proven experience in sports coaching or teaching, preferably within aquatic environments
- Strong communication skills, capable of motivating and engaging learners of all ages
- Ability to demonstrate swimming techniques clearly and effectively
- Good organisational skills to plan lessons and track student progress
- Patient, approachable, and enthusiastic about teaching water safety and swimming skills
- Ability to work flexibly during scheduled hours, including weekends if necessary
- Knowledge of water safety regulations and first aid certification is desirable but not essential
This role is ideal for individuals passionate about teaching, sports coaching, and promoting water safety within the community. We welcome applicants who are committed to creating a supportive learning atmosphere while ensuring the highest standards of safety.
The interview process will require you to -
1. Swim 50m, tread water for atleast 1 minute and touch the floor in the deepest part of the pool.
2. Take part in 2/3 lessons, this is for you to show us your skills and also make sure you are happy with the job role.
