About the Role
TD Tyre Recycling Ltd is looking for a reliable, hardworking and physically fit Yard Operative to join our team at our tyre recycling facility in Carmarthen.
This is a busy, practical and physically demanding role involving the handling, sorting and processing of waste tyres throughout the working day.
The successful applicant will be expected to work outdoors and within the yard in varying weather conditions, follow instructions from management and work efficiently as part of the wider team.
This is not a light warehouse or desk-based position.
Main Responsibilities
- Unloading waste tyres from company vehicles and customer vehicles.
- Manually moving, lifting, stacking and sorting tyres throughout the yard.
- Separating tyres according to size, type, condition and processing requirements.
- Loading tyres onto vehicles, machinery or storage areas as instructed.
- Assisting with tyre processing and recycling operations.
- Operating yard machinery and equipment once fully trained and authorised.
- Keeping the yard, storage areas and workspaces clean, organised and safe.
- Ensuring access routes, loading areas and fire routes remain clear.
- Assisting drivers when loading and unloading vehicles.
- Following daily work instructions and priorities provided by management.
- Reporting any damaged equipment, unsafe conditions or maintenance concerns immediately.
- Following all company health and safety procedures.
- Wearing the required personal protective equipment at all times.
- Assisting with other general yard duties when required.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
- The physical ability to repeatedly lift, move, stack and handle waste tyres.
- A strong work ethic and willingness to carry out physically demanding work.
- A reliable and punctual approach to attendance.
- The ability to follow instructions from management.
- The ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
- A responsible attitude towards health and safety.
- A willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Good communication skills.
- A practical, hands-on approach to work.
- The ability to maintain a clean and organised working area.
Desirable Experience
Previous experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
- Yard work.
- Waste management or recycling.
- Tyre handling.
- Warehousing or manual handling.
- Agricultural or construction work.
- Operating forklifts, loading equipment or other yard machinery.
Relevant machinery experience or licences would be beneficial but are not essential, as training can be provided for the right applicant.
