About the Role
Apego UK Engineering Solutions Ltd is seeking an experienced and commercially aware Senior Technical Project Engineer to plan, coordinate, and deliver complex engineering projects for clients across a range of technical and industrial environments.
The successful candidate will manage projects from initial requirements and technical assessment through design coordination, procurement, installation, testing, and final handover. You will work closely with clients, engineers, contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure that projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with agreed specifications.
This position is suited to a senior engineering professional with strong project-delivery experience, sound technical judgement, and the ability to manage several workstreams simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage engineering projects from initiation through completion
- Review client requirements, technical specifications, drawings, and project documentation
- Define project scope, deliverables, schedules, budgets, and resource requirements
- Prepare project plans, technical reports, risk assessments, and progress updates
- Coordinate design, procurement, manufacturing, installation, testing, and commissioning activities
- Act as a primary technical contact for clients, suppliers, contractors, and project stakeholders
- Monitor project costs, milestones, quality standards, and contractual commitments
- Identify technical risks, dependencies, delays, and design issues
- Develop practical mitigation plans and corrective actions
- Review engineering drawings, calculations, equipment schedules, and technical submissions
- Support the selection and evaluation of equipment, materials, and suppliers
- Coordinate site surveys, technical inspections, and installation activities
- Ensure that projects comply with relevant engineering standards, health and safety requirements, and company procedures
- Lead technical meetings, design reviews, and project-status discussions
- Manage engineering changes and assess their impact on cost, quality, and programme
- Support testing, commissioning, acceptance, and handover activities
- Prepare operation manuals, technical files, and final project documentation
- Maintain accurate records of decisions, approvals, risks, and project changes
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and project coordinators
- Contribute to bids, quotations, technical proposals, and client presentations
- Support continuous improvement across project-delivery processes
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline
- At least 5 years of experience in technical project engineering or engineering project delivery
- Proven experience delivering complex engineering projects from concept to completion
- Strong understanding of engineering design, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning
- Experience managing budgets, schedules, resources, risks, and suppliers
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documentation
- Strong understanding of health and safety requirements in engineering environments
- Experience working with clients, contractors, manufacturers, and multidisciplinary teams
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage several projects and priorities simultaneously
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project-management software
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites
Desirable Experience
- Chartered Engineer status or progress towards professional registration
- Project-management certification such as APM, PRINCE2, PMP, or an equivalent qualification
- Experience using Microsoft Project, Primavera, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar software
- Knowledge of building services, automation, manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, or industrial systems
- Experience managing subcontractors and specialist engineering suppliers
- Familiarity with quality-management systems and ISO standards
- Experience in contract administration and commercial project management
- Knowledge of commissioning procedures and technical handover requirements
- Experience working in a consultancy or engineering-solutions business
Pay: £42,000.00-£58,000.00 per year
