First Choice Homes Oldham (FCHO) has an exciting opportunity for a Safety Data Officer to join our Safety and Assurance team.
This is a key role supporting the delivery of our safety and compliance responsibilities, helping ensure that the data we rely on to keep our customers and colleagues safe is accurate, complete and trusted.
You’ll work across a range of safety and compliance areas including fire safety, gas, electrical compliance, lifting equipment, water safety and asbestos management. Through data analysis, validation and assurance checks, you’ll help us understand our performance, identify risks and provide confidence that our regulatory and legal obligations are being met.

The impact you’ll make
You’ll play an important role in strengthening how we manage and assure safety and compliance information across FCHO.
Working closely with our compliance risk leads, Safety and Assurance Manager and Data and BI teams, you’ll help ensure that property and compliance information is accurate, up to date and supports effective decision-making.
You will:

Analyse and validate safety and compliance data, identifying trends, gaps and areas requiring further investigation.

Carry out regular audit and sample assurance checks of compliance certification.

Maintain and continually update our property compliance register to reflect changes across our homes and property portfolio.

Work with compliance risk leads to ensure our legal obligations and any exemptions are accurately recorded and evidenced.

Help ensure property hierarchies, tenure information, portfolio groupings and compliance component data are accurate.

Support second-line assurance activity and external quality assurance across our safety workstreams.

Work with our Data and BI teams to support accurate KPI, performance and regulatory reporting.

Use data to support investment planning for safety and compliance components and equipment across our homes.

Analyse safety and compliance expenditure, helping budget managers understand trends and monitor spend.

Help continually improve the quality, accuracy and confidence of our safety data.
Our ideal candidate
We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with data, has excellent attention to detail and understands the importance of accurate information in a safety and compliance environment.
You’ll be confident analysing information, identifying discrepancies and working with colleagues across different teams to resolve issues and improve data quality.
You’ll have:

Strong data analysis and reporting skills.

Experience analysing and interpreting data using Excel.

Excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on data accuracy and integrity.

Experience producing reports that turn complex information into meaningful insight.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Experience working with stakeholders to gather information, resolve problems and improve processes.

The confidence to work independently and use your own initiative.

Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships across an organisation.
Knowledge of building safety, property compliance or relevant legal and regulatory obligations would be advantageous, as would experience of systems such as NEC, Riskbase, TCW or Notify.
