Job Title: Qualified Teaching Assistant
Location: Maryport
Hours: 8:30am–12:00pm, Monday – Friday
Contract Type: Temporary, Term Time Only
Pay Rate: £14.25 - £17.35 per hour (dependant on experience & qualifications)
About the Role:
We are currently looking for a qualified Teaching Assistant to join a lovely primary school in Maryport, supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and caring Teaching Assistant who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential. You will work closely with teaching staff to provide targeted support both within the classroom and on an individual basis.
Job Description:
- Supporting pupils with SEN across the primary age range.
- Providing one-to-one and small-group support where required.
- Helping pupils engage with learning and access the curriculum.
- Supporting children’s social, emotional and behavioural development.
- Adapting activities and resources to meet individual needs.
- Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support pupil progress.
- Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
- Helping to maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Following individual support plans and school policies.
Must Have:
- Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
- Previous professional experience supporting children or young people with SEN.
- A valid Enhanced DBS for the Child Workforce on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
- Right to Work in the UK.
- A caring, patient and supportive approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with children.
Desirable:
- Experience working within a primary school setting.
- Experience supporting children with complex or additional needs.
- Knowledge of SEN strategies and individual support plans.
- Experience providing one-to-one or small-group interventions.
- Additional relevant qualifications or training in areas such as Autism, ADHD, behaviour or safeguarding.
