The Role
You will implement and manage the Shared Financial Accounting and Creditors Payment Services for NHS Lanarkshire, maximising efficiency and effectiveness, and ensuring value for money is achieved. This includes developing and maintaining systems, procedures and controls to ensure that the Accounting System correctly reflects accurate Financial Information and meets the required, strict monthly reporting deadlines.
Supporting the Head of Financial Services ensuring consistent application and maintenance of the Board’s Corporate and Financial Governance systems, including overseeing sound systems of financial control, complying with recognised Accounting Standards. You will deputise for the Head of Financial Services, when required, and provide expertise and advice to Senior Managers in respect of all Financial matters.
In this key role, you will:

Support the effective and efficient management of public monies allocated to NHS Lanarkshire in accordance with the Strategic Health Plan, Our Health Together and our financial framework

Lead the development and application of financial systems, procedures and controls

Ensure public funds are properly managed and safeguarded

Ensure the consideration of policy proposals relating to expenditure or income includes all relevant financial consideration including issues of propriety, regularity or value for money

Develop and implement financial monitoring and control systems
What You'll Bring:

A degree and relevant post-graduate qualification.

Professionally Qualified Accountant with membership of one of the six bodies recognised by the Consultative Committee of Accounting Bodies (CCAB)

Continued Professional Development undertaken since qualification.

Significant post-qualifying experience, including substantial experience in a financial management position, demonstrating the level of knowledge, judgment and expertise required to operate effectively in this role
