- To ensure the provision of O ccupational Therapy approaches in the treatment of women with perinatal mental health problems, focussing primarily on the assessment of functional needs.
- Manage a caseload for women who are referred to the Perinatal Mental Health Service
- To carry out initial assessments and the planning of group and individual therapy interventions in collaboration with adults who have a diagnosis of Perinatal Mental Health Service
- To manage a defined caseload, using evidence based /client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
- To regularly supervise Occupational Therapy students on practice placement
- To provide leadership for junior staff, as delegated by the supervisor
- To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of the Occupational Therapy Service within the Perinatal Mental Health Service
- To participate in the delivery of training and consultancy for other therapists and practitioners working with the Perinatal Mental Health Service across the region
- To select and apply Occupational Therapy Assessments for a designated caseload, addressing occupational performance and skill deficits, enabling the client in areas of self-maintenance, productivity and leisure.
- To undertake generic initial assessments and collaboratively identify with the client priorities for therapy
- To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of work.
- To undertake the OT assessment of clients using investigative and analytical skills to formulate individual treatment plans
- To accept clinical responsibility under supervision for a designated case load some with complex presentations prioritising need and taking on the role of co-ordinator where relevant.
- To plan and implement client-centred individual and group interventions, using clinical reasoning and a range of treatment interventions to achieve therapeutic goals.
- To monitor, evaluate and modify treatment for clients in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of intervention
