Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Care Assistant to join our team within our care home. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities and a genuine desire to improve the quality of life for our residents.
This role offers an opportunity to utilise your supervisory skills whilst providing exceptional care in a supportive environment. The Senior Care Assistant will be responsible for overseeing daily care activities, supporting junior staff, and ensuring that personalised care plans are effectively implemented.
A valid driving licence is preferred but not essential.
Duties
- Supervise and support care staff to deliver high standards of personalised care to residents
- Assist residents with daily activities such as bathing, dressing and mobility, ensuring dignity and respect at all times
- Implement and review individualised care plans in collaboration with healthcare professionals and family members
- Monitor residents’ health and wellbeing, reporting any concerns promptly and appropriately
- Lead by example in maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming environment within the care home
- Provide guidance and support to junior members of the care team, helping to create a positive and supportive working environment
- Support activities that promote social engagement, wellbeing and mental stimulation for residents
- Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements, safeguarding procedures and the home’s policies
- Maintain accurate care records and documentation
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience working within a care home or senior care environment
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience is desirable
- Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively with residents, families, healthcare professionals and colleagues
- Ability to understand, implement and contribute to individual care plans
- Competent IT skills for maintaining accurate electronic care records
- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively
- A compassionate, patient and respectful approach to care
- A driving licence would be advantageous
