Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Residential Support Worker to provide compassionate care and support to children and young people within a residential setting. The role involves working closely with individuals to promote their well-being, development, and independence. The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in childcare and possess strong communication skills to build trusting relationships with residents and colleagues alike. Duties
- Provide personalised care in accordance with individual care plans, ensuring the safety and emotional well-being of residents.
- Support children and young people with daily activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and recreational pursuits.
- Foster a nurturing environment that encourages personal growth, independence, and social skills development.
- Assist with transportation needs by driving residents to appointments, activities, or outings as required.
- Maintain accurate records of residents' progress, incidents, and daily routines in line with organisational policies.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistent support and care.
- Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and supervision to continually develop skills relevant to childcare and support work.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children or young people in a care or educational setting is highly desirable.
- Valid driving licence and ability to drive safely are essential for transporting residents when needed.
- Knowledge of child development principles and experience implementing care plans is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are crucial for effective engagement with residents and team members.
- Basic IT skills for maintaining records and completing documentation accurately.
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in supporting vulnerable children and young people.
- Ability to work flexibly across shifts as required by organisational needs.
- Willingness to further develop core skills, including but not limited to Health and Social Care, QCF Level 4.
