The Bakery TW is an award-winning independent artisan bakery in the heart of Tunbridge Wells.
We're proud to have been recognised with Great Taste Awards, featured in the Good Food Guide, and recognised by the National Bakery Awards. Every day we produce handcrafted sourdough, artisan viennoiserie, speciality coffee and an ever-changing range of seasonal pastries that have built a loyal following across the town.

We also believe that hospitality should offer a healthy work-life balance. Unlike many hospitality businesses, we're closed every Sunday and Monday, giving every member of the team two protected days off every week. We also close for one week over Christmas, allowing everyone to enjoy a proper break with family and friends. Throughout the year we occasionally host special evening pop-up events (typically no more than once per month), giving the team the opportunity to be involved in exciting new concepts and seasonal menus.

The Role
This isn't a traditional barista position.
We're looking for someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in their work and wants to become a key part of a busy artisan bakery.
You'll work across multiple areas of the business, helping to keep the bakery operating efficiently while delivering an outstanding customer experience.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing speciality coffee and espresso-based drinks to a consistently high standard
- Delivering warm, knowledgeable and professional customer service
- Finishing pastries, cakes and seasonal products
- Receiving deliveries and checking goods against orders
- Rotating stock and maintaining organised storage areas
- Restocking retail displays to maintain exceptional presentation throughout the day
- Operating the till and handling cash accurately
- Opening and closing the bakery when required
- Maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness, organisation and food safety
- Supporting colleagues during busy service periods
- Assisting with bakery production, packing and preparation where required
- Helping ensure every customer leaves with an experience worth returning for

About You

Experience
Previous hospitality experience is preferred.
Experience in any of the following would be an advantage:
- Speciality coffee
- Bakery or artisan food retail
- Customer service
- Food safety and hygiene
- Stock management
- Opening and closing procedures
- Visual merchandising
- Keyholder responsibilities
However, attitude, work ethic and willingness to learn are every bit as important as previous experience.
