Main details:
Hours of work: 35-37 per week. Hours to be worked over 5 days (Monday to Friday) - timing negotiable.
Possibility of hybrid working once fully trained.
Starting salary dependent upon experience: £27,061 for full time - 37 hours (pro rata for part time).
Post is based in Corstorphine, Edinburgh.

We have 10,600 patients and are a well established and respected teaching practice delivering high quality primary care services and achieving excellent results in relation to delivery of our contractual requirements and enhanced services. Our team includes 6 GP Partners and 5 Salaried GPs as well as GPSTs and medical students. In addition to our 15 strong Reception/Admin team we have 3 Practice Nurses and a further team of 5 in the Treatment Room. We also have an ANP, Paramedics, Physio, Pharmacists, Link Worker and CAMHS Link Worker attached to our Practice.
Your role:
An exciting new opportunity has arisen to join our friendly and supportive team. We are seeking a highly motivated, organised and detail-oriented Medical Records Summariser / Workflow Administrator to join our busy GP practice. This is a key administrative role supporting clinical staff by ensuring patient records are accurate, up to date, and effectively managed within our clinical system as well as supporting workflow management within the practice.
Key responsibilities:
- Summarise and accurately code patient medical records onto the clinical system in line with practice protocols.
- Review patients' electronic records and extract relevant clinical information.
- Process incoming clinical correspondence, including hospital letters, test results, and reports.
- Manage clinical workflow tasks and distribute correspondence to the appropriate clinicians or teams.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records.
- Identify and action administrative tasks arising from clinical correspondence where appropriate.
- Support data quality initiatives and ensure compliance with coding standards.
- Liaise with clinical and administrative staff to ensure efficient information management.
- Adhere to GDPR, information governance, and confidentiality requirements.
This is a busy role requiring an individual to pay excellent attention to detail, who has the ability to work independently and proactively, to be able to communicate effectively, to prioritise work appropriately and to demonstrate a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.
Previous experience in a healthcare setting and knowledge of medical terminology and clinical systems (Vision/Docman) would be advantageous. Full training will be provided where appropriate.
