Job Description -
- The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for delivering the mechanical maintenance and fabrication support across a newly designed seed processing site (Cereals, Pulses, Legumes).
- Reporting directly to the Engineering Lead this role will be responsible for ensuring maintenance activities are carried out, required parts are fabricated, welded or repaired as promptly as possible, and breakdowns / repairs are carried out to a high standard, with food / seed safety kept in mind.
- The Mechanical Engineer is expected to have a thorough knowledge of Mechanical maintenance, fabrication, welding ( and be comfortable working with food and agricultural processing equipment ranging from simple conveyors, elevators and sieves through to advanced colour-sorting, X-Ray and packing / weighing equipment. Prior experience working with seed and seed treatment (Chemical pumps, dosing equipment etc..) would also be beneficial.
This role would suit someone with a strong background in engineering and maintenance in either Agricultural type cleaning plants or food production (Milling, Cereals, pulses, etc..). Knowledge of working with a computerised PPM / Maintenance system would also be beneficial.
During the early stages of the build the role will be centered on supporting the maintenance, installation and setup of plant and equipment as well as working alongside contractors, supporting the creation of the PPM system and designing innovative solutions to problems as they occur during installation and commissioning.
Once the site is fully operational this role will diversify into completing planned and preventative maintenance of the site and facility as well as dealing with breakdowns and on minimising any unscheduled downtime to the plant.
Experience and Requirements -
- NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering (Or similar / Relevant Experience)
- Some exposure to Electrical Engineering / Multi-Skilled would be beneficial / Advantageous
- FMCG / Food or Agricultural Experience
- Full Right to Live and Work in the UK.
- Previous experience in an Engineering Role
- Competent, welder and fabricator with a talent for problem solving.
