Accounts Assistant - Diss
Up to £30,000 depending on experience and qualification
Full time | 37.5 hours per week
Are you
AAT Level 4 qualified, or close to completing it, and ready to build on the accountancy experience you already have? Michelle Denny Recruitment is recruiting an Accounts Assistant for an accountancy practice in Diss, working across a mix of sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
This isn't a role where you'll be tucked away doing one small part of the accounts process. You'll be involved in accounts preparation, bookkeeping, VAT and management accounts, as well as speaking directly with clients and getting to know the businesses you're working with.
For someone approaching or completing AAT Level 4, there's plenty of scope to build your technical experience, take on greater responsibility and continue progressing your accountancy career.
What you'll be doing
- Preparing accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies
- Bookkeeping, processing transactions and reconciling accounts
- Preparing VAT returns and supporting clients with digital record keeping
- Assisting with management accounts and other financial reporting
- Communicating directly with clients to gather information and answer queries
- Preparing accurate working papers and maintaining high quality files
- Using accounting software including Xero, QuickBooks, Sage and CCH
- Working closely with senior colleagues across the team
What you'll bring
Ideally, you'll be AAT Level 4 qualified or nearing completion, with relevant accountancy experience and a good grounding in accounts preparation.
You'll also need:
- Good attention to detail and a methodical approach
- Confidence using cloud based accounting software and Excel
- The confidence to communicate directly with clients
- An organised approach to managing your workload
- An interest in continuing to develop your technical accountancy skills
Experience within an accountancy practice would be helpful, but isn't essential.
What's on offer
- Salary up to £30,000, depending on experience and qualification
- 24 days' holiday plus 8 bank holidays
- Medicash health plan
- Professional subscriptions
- Life Assurance and Group Income Protection
- Annual salary review
- Ongoing training and mentoring
- Support with further study and professional development
- Opportunities to progress as your experience develops

If you're
AAT Level 4 qualified or getting close to completing it and you're looking for a role where you can broaden your experience rather than simply repeat what you're already doing, I'd be very happy to tell you more.
