We are seeking an energetic and reliable van delivery driver to join our team! In this vital role, you will be responsible for delivering automotive parts efficiently and safely to our customers. Responsibilities
- Safely operate a delivery van to transport automotive parts to various locations
- Plan delivery routes to optimize efficiency and meet delivery schedules
- Load and unload vehicle cargo, often involving heavy lifting and manual handling
- Verify delivery orders against shipments, ensuring accuracy and completeness
- Communicate clearly with customers upon delivery, providing excellent service
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, receipts, and vehicle inspection reports
- Follow all traffic laws and safety procedures at all times
Key Employment Terms
- Employment Type: Permanent, full-time contract.
- Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday (Fixed schedule; no weekend or bank holiday work).
- Working Hours: 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM (10-hour shift daily).
- Pay Rate: £12.50 to £14.00 per hour (equivalent to an annual salary of approximately £32,500 to £36,400).
- Benefits: Standard statutory pension scheme, paid annual leave (typically 28 days including bank holidays), and uniform provided.
Core Responsibilities
- Dedicated Route Deliveries: Transport high-output steel/cast-iron radiators, boilers, and heating components to independent plumbers, building merchants, and trade sites.
- Load Security: Master the layout of your vehicle; use anchor points and ratchet straps to ensure heavy, high-value freight does not shift or suffer cosmetic damage.
- Heavy Lifting: Safely unload bulky heating units and deliver them directly to specified ground-floor drop-off zones or trade counters.
- Client Relations: Build ongoing professional relationships with regular trade customers, acting as a reliable representative of the logistics brand.
- Asset Maintenance: Take ownership of your assigned company van, performing daily roadworthiness checks (tyres, fluids, lights) and keeping the vehicle clean.
Candidate Profile & Requirements Criteria
Minimum Requirement
Licence Type Full UK Driving Licence (Category B) with manual transmission experience, held for 2+ years.
Endorsements Clean history preferred; maximum of 6 minor penalty points (strictly no active DR, DD, or IN convictions).
Experience Proven commercial driving experience; knowledge of East London and Essex road networks is highly advantageous.
Physicality High level of physical fitness required for intensive daily manual handling and lifting.
Pay: £12.71-£14.00 per hour
