Learn how a real business grows.
We're looking for an ambitious apprentice to join a Nottinghamshire manufacturer of premium professional tools.
This isn't a job where you'll spend all day filing paperwork.
And it isn't a job where “marketing” means posting the occasional picture on Instagram.
You'll learn how a modern manufacturing and e-commerce business actually works — from attracting a customer through marketing, to processing their order, managing stock, working with suppliers and ultimately making sure the product reaches them.
You'll be involved across the business and given more responsibility as your skills develop.
The role
Your initial apprenticeship will either focus heavily on marketing or administration, but the role is intentionally broader.
You'll learn the complete commercial journey:
Marketing → Customer Demand → Orders → Stock → Production → Distribution → Customer Experience → Feedback
Understanding that whole process is what makes this role different.
What you'll be involved in Marketing and content
You'll help us with:
- Social media
- Digital marketing
- Content creation
- Product launches
- Marketing campaigns
- Email marketing
- Website and e-commerce content
- Product photography
- Video content
- Customer stories and testimonials
- Competitor and market research
- Analysing marketing performance
- Helping us understand what customers respond to
You may be involved in creating content for platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, Reddit and our websites.
You don't need to be a professional photographer or filmmaker, but an interest in creating good content would be useful.
Commercial and administration
You'll also learn how the rest of the business operates, including:
- Processing customer orders
- Raising purchase orders
- Purchasing
- Working with suppliers
- Stock control
- Maintaining product and stock information
- Customer communication
- General business administration
- Helping coordinate production requirements
- Preparing orders for dispatch
- Distribution and shipping
- Monitoring customer feedback
- Helping improve the customer experience
Who we're looking for
We're looking for someone bright, organised and commercially curious.
You might be the sort of person who notices why one advert gets your attention and another doesn't.
You may be interested in:
- Social media
- Brands
- Business
- Photography or video
- E-commerce
- Design
- Selling
- Technology
- YouTube
- Entrepreneurship
- How products are made
- How businesses grow
You don't need previous marketing experience.
We're looking for someone with the potential to develop.
You'll need
- Good written English
- Confidence with basic maths
- Good communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Good organisation
- Confidence using computers
- A willingness to learn new software
- Reliability and good timekeeping
- The confidence to contribute ideas
- A sensible and professional approach to social media
- The ability to work independently when required
Experience using social media, Adobe, Canva, photography, video editing, Shopify or similar tools would be useful but is not essential.
This role would suit someone who...
Doesn't necessarily want a traditional office job.
You'll work inside a small, real British manufacturing business where products are being designed, machined, assembled, marketed and shipped around the world.
One day you could be helping create content for a new product launch.
The next you could be checking stock, raising a purchase order, speaking to a supplier or helping get customer orders dispatched.
That's deliberate. We want you to understand the whole business.
About TrigJig
TrigJig designs and manufactures premium professional measuring, marking and layout tools from our base in Nottinghamshire.
Our customers include professional tradespeople, woodworkers, builders and makers in the UK and overseas.
We're a small growing company, so you'll work closely with the people actually running the business rather than being one apprentice among hundreds.
You'll be expected to contribute ideas, learn quickly and gradually take ownership of parts of the role.
What we offer
- Marketing or Business Administration Apprenticeship
- 30 to 37.5-hour working week
- Starting pay above the standard apprentice minimum
- Structured pay progression as your ability and responsibilities increase
- Real experience working on live marketing campaigns
- Exposure to e-commerce and international customers
- Experience across purchasing, stock, administration and distribution
- Opportunities to create photography and video content
- Direct involvement in product launches
- Experience inside a British manufacturing business
- Scope for the role to grow significantly as your skills develop
- The possibility of further training and progression after the initial apprenticeship
We want to develop somebody who understands marketing, customers and how a commercial business works.
How to apply
Please apply with your CV and a short note telling us about yourself and why this role interests you.
Don't worry if you haven't worked in marketing before.
We're interested in what you've done outside formal employment too.
Perhaps you've run a social media page, edited videos, sold something online, built a website, helped with a family business, organised an event, photographed products or simply become fascinated by why some brands succeed and others don't.
Tell us about it.
