Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Sous Chef to join our team here at The Ship Inn in Weybourne. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive kitchen experience, and a passion for delivering great food. As a key member of our kitchen staff, you will assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily operations, supervising kitchen staff, and ensuring the highest standards of food safety and presentation.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations and ensuring smooth workflow
- Supervise and motivate kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment
- Prepare and cook high-quality dishes in accordance with restaurant standards and recipes
- Oversee food production, ensuring consistency, presentation, and adherence to hygiene standards
- Monitor inventory levels, assist with ordering supplies, and manage stock rotation
- Enforce food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness throughout the kitchen area
- Support in training new staff members and developing existing team skills
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery
- Contribute ideas for menu development and seasonal offerings
Skills
- Proven supervising experience within a busy kitchen or restaurant setting
- Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food presentation
- Excellent team management and leadership abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of food safety standards and regulations
- Extensive kitchen experience, ideally within hospitality or restaurant environments
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service periods
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and front-of-house staff
- Passion for culinary arts and continuous learning in food trends
