Assistant Project Manager Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C
As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the CWA Wide Section.
What will you do?
Principal Accountabilities, Activities and Decisions
- Business Operations & Alliance Effectiveness Coordination
- Support the coordination of the Business Operations & Alliance Effectiveness function, reflecting its broader remit across ESG, Strategy, Communications and Governance.
- Help bring together activity across the function so that priorities, actions, decisions and deliverables are visible, joined up and aligned to wider Alliance objectives.
- Support the development of simple plans, trackers, action logs and reporting materials to help the function operate in a structured and effective way.
- Help identify where workstreams connect, where information needs to be shared, and where teams may need support to move activity forward.
- Supporting the Alliance Operating Rhythm
- Support the development and coordination of the regular operating rhythm for the function and wider Alliance activity.
- Assist with preparing agendas, meeting packs, briefing notes, action logs and follow-up outputs for key meetings, workshops and review sessions.
- Help ensure discussions are purposeful, actions are clear, and outputs are shared with the right people.
- Support improvements to ways of working, helping make meetings, reporting and team coordination more structured and effective.
- Communications, Engagement and Workshop Support
- Support the preparation of communication and engagement materials for the function and wider Alliance audiences.
- Assist with developing slide packs, briefing notes, visual summaries, workshop materials and follow-up outputs that help communicate key messages clearly.
- Support the planning and coordination of workshops and engagement sessions linked to culture, collaboration, knowledge sharing, transformation and Alliance effectiveness.
- Help gather inputs before sessions, capture key themes and actions, and turn outputs into clear next steps.
- Governance, Reporting and Follow-Up
- Support governance and reporting activity across the function by helping coordinate inputs, maintain action tracking and prepare clear outputs.
- Assist with ensuring actions, decisions, risks, dependencies and key messages are recorded and followed up appropriately.
- Help maintain clear links between meetings, reporting, communications and delivery activity so that information flows effectively across ESG, Strategy, Communications and Governance.
- Support the function in creating a clear line of sight between business operations activity and wider Alliance priorities.
- Culture, Knowledge Sharing and Alliance Effectiveness
- Support activities that help strengthen Alliance culture, collaboration and shared ways of working.
- Assist with workstreams linked to employee engagement, lessons learned, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
- Help capture, organise and share information across the function and wider Alliance.
- Support the development of simple resources, guidance notes, trackers and reference materials that improve consistency and make information easier to access.
- Flexible Project Management Support
- Provide flexible project management support across Business Operations & Alliance Effectiveness as priorities develop.
- Assist with organising workstreams, coordinating stakeholders, tracking progress and preparing materials to support delivery.
- Support the function in responding to emerging priorities, helping bring structure and clarity to new pieces of work.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Project Manager (APM) to join our team. This role is ideal for someone at the early stage of their career who is eager to learn, keen to get hands-on experience, and interested in developing a future career in project management, strategy & transformation, process improvement and Alliance effectiveness.
You will support the delivery of projects across our team, working closely with project managers, stakeholders, and technical teams. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to develop both technical and professional skills, with clear pathways for growth as you build experience.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong IT literacy, with confidence using Microsoft 365 tools (including Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)
- Good organisational skills with strong attention to detail
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Interest in project management, project delivery, and digital change
Essential
- High level of enthusiasm, curiosity, and willingness to learn
- Interest in developing a career in project management, digital transformation, or process improvement
- Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders and team members
- Comfortable asking questions, seeking feedback, and learning on the job
- Proactive, positive, and adaptable approach to work
Desirable
- Experience or interest in project management methodologies (e.g. Agile, Waterfall, PRINCE2 – formal certification not required)
- Awareness of or exposure to SharePoint development, such as site creation, lists, libraries, workflows, or page design
- Basic graphic design skills, such as creating clear visuals, layouts, or diagrams (e.g. PowerPoint, Canva, Adobe, or similar tools)
- Experience working in a team environment or supporting structured workstreams
