Overview
You will act as a technical advisor, trainer, and early commercial guide for the new division. Responsibilities include product selection, application standards, customer demos, and supporting early sales activity. You will also help train a future full‑time technical/sales representative as the division grows.
This is a flexible, part‑time role designed around your availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise in wood coatings, finishing systems, and refinishing processes
- Advise on product selection, application methods, and technical standards
- Bring industry contacts, leads, and market insights to support early sales
- Assist with customer demos, product trials, and technical troubleshooting
- Support pricing, market positioning, and customer segmentation
- Conduct informal market research using your experience and network
- Help shape the launch strategy for the Wood Coatings division
- Train and mentor a future full‑time technical/sales hire
- Provide ongoing technical support as the division grows
Ideal Candidate
- Retired or semi‑retired wood coatings or wood refinishing professional
- 20+ years’ experience in: wood coatings, finishing systems, furniture restoration industrial wood finishing
- Strong network of: spray shops, furniture makers, joinery workshops, coatings suppliers
- Confident demonstrating products and explaining application methods
- Comfortable advising on both technical and commercial aspects
- Friendly, patient, and able to train others
- Flexible availability (1–3 days per week or consultancy hours)
