We are partnering with a leading semiconductor company as they expand their presence in the UK and European markets. Our client operates in the upstream integrated circuit space, providing cutting-edge chip solutions across communications, consumer electronics, industrial, and IoT applications.
This is an exciting opportunity for a technically strong FAE to become a key player in the company's UK market development — working at the intersection of engineering and commercial growth.
As Field Application Engineer, you will serve as the primary technical interface between the company and its UK and European customers. You will provide expert pre- and post-sales technical support, drive design wins, and work closely with customers' engineering teams to ensure successful product integration and adoption.
Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on pre-sales and post-sales technical support to customers across the UK and Europe
- Drive design wins by understanding customer requirements and recommending optimal IC solutions
- Deliver product demonstrations, technical presentations, and proof-of-concept evaluations
- Support customers through schematic review, PCB layout guidance, firmware bring-up, and system-level debugging
- Act as the technical voice of the customer internally — feeding back requirements to product and R&D teams in China HQ
- Collaborate with the sales team to identify new business opportunities and accelerate the sales cycle
- Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and customer sites as required
- Produce technical documentation including application notes, FAQs, and integration guides
- Collaborate closely with sales teams to understand customer needs and develop tailored application strategies.
- Troubleshoot technical issues in real-time, offering clear guidance and solutions to resolve problems swiftly.
- Conduct training sessions for customers and internal teams to enhance understanding of product functionalities and best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or above in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
- Minimum 3 years of FAE or applications engineering experience within the semiconductor or IC industry
- Strong technical knowledge in one or more of the following: power management ICs, communications chips, SoC, MCU, connectivity (Wi-Fi/BT/Zigbee), or IoT chipsets
- Proven experience supporting customers through the full design-in cycle — from evaluation to mass production
- Hands-on experience with lab tools: oscilloscopes, logic analysers, signal generators, and debugging environments
- Excellent communication skills — able to translate complex technical concepts clearly to both engineering and non-engineering audiences
- Self-motivated, customer-focused, and comfortable working independently in a UK market context
- Mandarin language skills are a strong advantage for cross-border collaboration with China HQ
