Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Motor Mechanic/MOT Tester to join our automotive service team. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicle makes and models, ensuring they meet safety and emissions standards. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections to identify mechanical issues and ensure compliance with MOT standards
- Perform repairs and maintenance on engines, brakes, suspension, exhaust systems, and other vehicle components
- Use hand tools and power tools efficiently to carry out repairs and diagnostics
- Carry out MOT testing in accordance with legal regulations and maintain accurate records of tests performed
- Assist in diagnosing complex mechanical problems using specialised equipment and technical knowledge
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard of quality
- Maintain a clean and organised workshop environment, adhering to health and safety guidelines
- Assist with ordering parts and managing inventory as required
Experience
- Proven experience as a Motor Mechanic or similar role within an automotive workshop or garage setting
- Strong mechanical knowledge of various vehicle systems and components
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Experience performing MOT tests is highly desirable but not essential; training can be provided for the right candidate
- Ability to lift heavy components safely and perform physically demanding tasks such as heavy lifting regularly
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in automotive repair or MOT testing are advantageous but not mandatory
