Support Worker
Location:
Ponteland and surrounding areas of West Northumberland, including Heddon-on-the-Wall, Stamfordham, Darras Hall, Throckley, West Denton and nearby communities.
The role may also include providing support at our Adult Day Centre located in Ponteland.
Responsible To
Community Care Manager
Hours
Flexible hours available, including mornings, evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Alternate weekend working will be required.

Alongside our domiciliary care service, we operate a welcoming Adult Day Centre in Ponteland, providing meaningful activities, companionship and support to adults within the local community.
Purpose of the Role
To provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to individuals in their own homes and, where required, within our Adult Day Centre. You will help people maintain their independence, dignity and quality of life while promoting choice and respect at all times.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide care/support to our clients.
- Prepare meals and support with nutrition and hydration.
- Support clients with mobility and the safe use of mobility equipment.
- Carry out light domestic duties where required.
- Provide companionship and emotional support.
- Accompany clients to appointments or community activities where appropriate.
- Complete accurate electronic care records using the Company's care management system (Birdie)
- Report any concerns relating to safeguarding, health or wellbeing immediately.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with GDPR requirements.
- Follow individual care plans and risk assessments.
- Work in accordance with regulatory and Company policies.
Adult Day Centre Duties (where required)
You may also be required to support our Adult Day Centre by:
- Welcoming and supporting attendees throughout the day.
- Assisting with group activities and social events.
- Encouraging participation and independence.
- Supporting meal and refreshment times.
- Providing personal care where required.
- Helping to maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment.
- Assisting with transporting or accompanying attendees where appropriate.
Person Specification, Essential
- Caring, compassionate and reliable.
- Previous experience in health or social care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Respect for dignity, privacy and individual choice.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to undertake mandatory training.
- Flexible approach to working hours.
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable
- Care Certificate or Level 2/3 qualification in Health & Social Care.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle with appropriate business insurance.
- Experience using Birdie systems
