Part-time Cook / Front of House Assistant

Responsible To
Café Manager
Purpose of the Role
To support the day-to-day running of our community Café through the delivery of quality food, excellent customer service and positive engagement with customers, trainees, volunteers and the wider community.
This role combines kitchen responsibilities with front of house support and requires someone who is flexible, proactive and community-minded.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
· Prepare and cook food to a high standard
· Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene in line with EHO and food safety requirements
· Follow health and safety procedures at all times
· Assist with stock rotation, ordering awareness and waste reduction
· Deliver excellent customer service in a friendly and welcoming manner
· Support front of house operations including serving customers and general café presentation
· Work collaboratively with the wider café team
· Support trainees, volunteers and community participants in a positive and encouraging way
· Help create a warm, inclusive and supportive environment for customers and visitors
· Be flexible in supporting events, activities and operational needs where required
· Uphold the values and reputation of The Angel Community Café.
Person Specification
Essential
· Experience in cooking within a café, hospitality or catering environment
· Knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety requirements
· Understanding of EHO compliance standards
· Friendly, approachable and professional manner
· Good team player
· Flexible and adaptable attitude
· Reliable and punctual
· Ability to work in a busy environment
· Positive and supportive approach to customers, trainees and colleagues
· Good communication skills
· Commitment to supporting the local community
Desirable
· Food Hygiene Certificate
· Health and Safety training
· Experience working with volunteers, trainees or community projects
· Front of House/customer service experience
· Experience within a community café or social enterprise environment
