English Curriculum Lead (QTS)
KS2–KS4 | Functional Skills | GCSE English
Overworld AMP – Independent SEN Provision | Farnham
Salary: £34,000 per year, with annual progression in line with standard teacher pay advancement.
Overworld AMP is seeking an English Curriculum Lead (QTS) to shape and oversee our English curriculum across KS2–KS4 within our care‑first, trauma‑informed SEN provision. This role is ideal for someone who loves designing creative, accessible learning experiences and understands that literacy can be built through stories, conversations, digital media, gaming, outdoor learning and real‑world tasks — not just textbooks.
This is a curriculum‑focused role, not a traditional teaching‑heavy post. You will design schemes of work, support staff with delivery, and ensure English is woven through the daily life of the provision. You’ll work closely with the Head of Education, who provides ongoing professional support, supervision and strategic direction.
You will also deliver 1:1, paired and small‑group sessions, adapting pace, structure and content to meet the sensory, emotional and developmental needs of autistic, ADHD, PDA and SEMH learners. A key part of the role is training and supporting Support Workers, ensuring they feel confident delivering literacy‑based tasks and embedding English across practical, creative and therapeutic activities.
If you enjoy creative planning, flexible delivery and helping young people find their voice through writing, reading and communication, this role will suit you perfectly.
What you’ll be doing
- Leading the English curriculum across KS2–KS4
- Designing stage‑not‑age pathways for Functional Skills and GCSE
- Delivering 1:1, paired and small‑group English sessions
- Creating accessible micro‑tasks and flexible learning routes
- Embedding literacy across gaming, creative media, outdoor learning and daily routines
- Training and supporting Support Workers to deliver English‑based activities
- Overseeing assessment, evidence capture and internal verification
- Working collaboratively with Care Leads to ensure emotional and sensory safety underpin all learning
- Taking initiative in planning, adapting and responding to learners’ needs in real time
What we’re looking for
- QTS (required)
- Strong English subject knowledge
- Experience teaching English across KS2–KS4
- Ability to design accessible, creative and flexible English pathways
- Confidence supporting staff to deliver literacy in relational, low‑demand ways
- Understanding of autism, ADHD, PDA and trauma‑informed practice
- A reflective, collaborative approach to working with neurodivergent learners
- An interest in gaming, digital storytelling, media analysis or outdoor learning is a real advantage
Who can apply
We welcome applications from QTS‑qualified teachers who are newly qualified and who bring some industry or specialist background in this subject area. Teachers who may be early in their classroom career but have relevant practical experience, emerging expertise or professional qualifications in the field are encouraged to apply. You will receive full supervision, curriculum guidance and ongoing support from the Head of Education to ensure confidence, consistency and high‑quality delivery.
Teamwork, Inclusion & Safeguarding
We are a collaborative, reflective team where no one works in isolation. Shared planning, open communication and mutual support are central to our practice.
We warmly welcome applications from neurodivergent candidates and those from diverse backgrounds, identities and lived experiences.
Overworld AMP is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All roles require an enhanced DBS check and ongoing safeguarding training.
