Role Purpose
To supervise trade operatives and oversee workmanship across various workstreams, more specifically education refurbishment projects ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The role is key in maintaining excellent customer relationships, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety regulations, and achieving KPI targets through effective coordination of labour, materials, and site activities.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupervision & Team Management
- Recruit, supervise, and manage skilled trade operatives on site
- Monitor operatives’ conduct, productivity, and performance
- Deliver site inductions and toolbox talks
- Support the development of trainees and apprentices
- Deputise for Supervisors, Site Managers, or Project Managers when required
Customer & Client Liaison
- Act as the main point of contact for residents and client representatives
- Resolve day-to-day site issues with a strong focus on customer satisfaction
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with all stakeholders
- Participate in joint inspections, audits, and handovers with clients
Planning & Resource Management
- Review incoming works and assess labour, time, and material requirements
- Allocate daily work schedules and manage site resources effectively
- Identify resourcing and material needs to meet programme deadlines
- Ensure smooth coordination between site teams and office staff
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with company and statutory Health & Safety regulations
- Carry out regular site inspections and complete weekly H&S reports
- Maintain safe systems of work and environmental standards
- Prepare and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
Quality Control & Delivery
- Conduct quality inspections at key stages of works
- Ensure high standards of workmanship and aim for zero defects at handover
- Manage snagging processes and ensure timely completion of works
- Oversee opening and closing of properties for accurate job tracking
Administration & Reporting
- Complete and maintain accurate site documentation and job records
- Approve timesheets, track labour and material usage
- Ensure accuracy of job packs, variations, and commercial records
- Maintain records for quality inspections and project completion
Qualifications & TrainingEssential
- Full UK Driving Licence
- GCSE level education (or equivalent)
- Proven experience in a building trade and/or supervisory role
- CSCS Card
- First Aid at Work
- Manual Handling
- Asbestos Awareness

- BTEC HNC/HND in Building/Construction
- SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme)
- Scaffolding Awareness

- IT literate (MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook)
Experience Required
- Experience in a front-line customer service or service delivery role
- Strong knowledge of construction, repairs, and refurbishment in social housing
- Experience managing labour, materials, and multiple workstreams
- Competent in preparing and reviewing RAMS
