Overview
We are seeking a professional and reliable HGV Driver to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods across various routes, ensuring timely deliveries and maintaining high standards of safety and customer service. We operate an 18 tonne GVW rigid tipper with hiab and plant trailer.
Duties
- Operate our tipper lorry in compliance with all road safety regulations and company policies
- Conduct pre-journey checks to ensure the vehicle is in optimal condition
- Safely load, secure, and unload goods, ensuring proper handling of cargo
- Plan routes effectively to meet delivery schedules and optimise fuel efficiency
- Complete all necessary documentation accurately, including delivery notes and logs
- Maintain communication with the dispatch team regarding progress and any issues encountered during journeys
- Adhere to all legal requirements related to driving hours, tachograph regulations, and road safety standards
- Assist with the organisation of deliveries, including loading and unloading as required
Requirements
- Valid HGV licence
- Tipper driver experience is highly desirable
- Knowledge of current road safety legislation and best practices for secure cargo handling
- Ability to operate hiab and forklift truck are desireable
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan routes effectively
- Good communication skills and a professional attitude towards customers and colleagues
- Good knowlege of roads around Dumfries & Galloway
