We are a fast-growing manufacturer of high-quality vitamins, supplements and nutritional products, producing a wide range of capsule, tablet and powder products for leading health and wellness brands across the UK.
Due to continued expansion, we are looking for an experienced Capsule Machine Operator to join our Production team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous capsule manufacturing experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced GMP manufacturing environment and takes pride in producing high-quality products safely, efficiently and right first time.
The Role
As a Capsule Machine Operator, you will be responsible for setting up, operating and monitoring encapsulation equipment to ensure products are manufactured safely, accurately and efficiently. You will work within a cleanroom environment (PPE provided), ensuring all production activities comply with GMP, HACCP and company quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate and adjust capsule filling machinery to meet production requirements.
- Complete machine changeovers efficiently whilst minimising downtime.
- Monitor machine performance throughout production and make adjustments where required.
- Carry out routine machine cleaning in accordance with GMP procedures.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance and report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Complete production batch records and manufacturing documentation accurately.
- Carry out in-process quality checks to ensure products meet specification.
- Verify capsule weights, fill accuracy and product quality throughout production.
- Ensure all materials, batch numbers and documentation remain fully traceable.
- Work to production schedules and achieve daily output targets while maintaining quality standards.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards and ensure equipment is cleaned and ready for the next production run.
- Follow all Health & Safety, GMP, HACCP and company operating procedures.
- Support other production departments when required.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Previous experience operating machinery within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working within GMP, pharmaceutical, food or supplements manufacturing.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify and resolve minor machine issues.
- Ability to complete production documentation accurately.
- Strong communication skills.
- Reliable with excellent timekeeping.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and continuously improve.
Desirable
- Experience with semi-automatic or automatic encapsulation machines.
- Knowledge of GMP and HACCP requirements.
- Experience working within food, pharmaceutical or nutraceutical manufacturing.
- Understanding of quality control processes and batch traceability.
- Experience carrying out machine changeovers and basic preventative maintenance.
Working Hours
Standard working hours are 8:00am – 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
As the business continues to grow, flexibility is required. The successful candidate may be asked to work a variety of shift patterns, including early, standard and late shifts between 6:00am and 10:00pm.
