Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Care Assistant to join our reputable care home. The successful candidate will play a vital role in delivering high-quality care to our residents, supporting their wellbeing and independence. The Senior Care Assistant will be responsible for supervising care staff, developing personalised care plans, and ensuring residents' needs are met with dignity and respect. A valid driving licence is desirable to facilitate transportation duties when required.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and support care staff to ensure the delivery of compassionate, person-centred care in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
- Assist residents with daily activities such as personal hygiene, mobility, nutrition, and medication management.
- Develop, review, and implement personalised care plans in collaboration with residents, their families, and healthcare professionals.
- Maintain accurate documentation of care activities and resident progress using IT systems efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, team members, and external healthcare providers to promote a collaborative approach to care.
- Lead by example to foster a positive environment that promotes dignity, respect, and independence among residents.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including infection control protocols.
- Support the organisation’s leadership team in supervising staff rotas, training sessions, and performance evaluations when necessary.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working within a care home or senior care environment is essential.
- Nursing background preferred
- Supervising or leadership experience within a healthcare setting is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with residents, families, and team members.
- Good IT skills for maintaining accurate records and updating care plans efficiently.
- Valid driving licence preferred to support transportation needs of residents or staff when required.
- Knowledge of care plans, safeguarding procedures, and health & safety standards relevant to senior care.
