On Behalf of Arup, we are looking for a Senior Civil Engineer – Design Coordinator for a 24 month contract can be based in London, Birmingham, Manchester or Leeds (hybrid)
Candidate Profile: Key accountabilities, skills & experience
Purpose of the role:
You will be responsible for leading the development/integration of enabling works design (including haul roads & compounds and associated earthworks, drainage and fencing) and structures design (tower foundations, bridges and culverts) into a design work package. This role will require interface with the wider AAJV design team (who are developing standard designs), and Lot 2 Partners.
What you’ll do:
- Act as a primary technical design work package interface with National Grid, WSP and Lot 2 Partners; building trust and confidence in AAJV’s delivery capability.
- Lead on agreeing approaches to implementation of route wide design and assurance requirements at a design work package level.
- Working closely with the AAJV GWNC Enabling Works Lead, Bridges and Culverts Lead and OHL Foundations Lead (and wider design teams) to facilitate route wide designs to be included in a design work package. Developing standard designs, as required, to meet package/location requirements.
- Collaborating with the AAJV GWNC GI Leads to translate the design into a structured design work package.
- Oversee coordination within a design work package (environment, consent, flood modelling etc.) to ensure a fully integrated technical solution.
- Oversee design changes within a design work package to the baseline DF3 design (including through the DCO examination process), incorporating changes into the design and challenging changes where appropriate.
- Ensure design solutions meet the requirements set out in the DCO, influencing the development of the DCO documents to maintain design flexibility.
- Working closely with the Package Design Manager (and Deputy) to ensure technical deliverables meet programme milestones, quality standards, partner requirements and client expectations.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and client governance processes.
