Job Title: Trade Counter Assistant
Location: Swansea Branch
Full-time, permanent: 44.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday 730am to 430pm AND alternate Saturdays 8am to 12pm.
Starting salary: £29,411 + branch bonus + excellent benefits.
Role Overview:
As a Trade Counter Assistant, you’ll be the face of the business for walk-in trade customers. Your main responsibility is to serve customers efficiently and professionally at the trade counter, handle enquiries, prepare orders, and support the daily operations of the branch.
What you'll be doing:
- Serving customers at the trade counter in a polite, friendly, and professional manner.
- Assisting customers with product selection and offer knowledgeable advice.
- Processing sales orders, quotations, and returns using our internal systems
- Handling phone and email enquiries from customers regarding stock, pricing, and orders.
- Picking and packing customer orders.
- Ensuring the trade counter area is kept clean, tidy, and stocked with promotional material.
- Stock control and general warehouse duties as needed.
- Delivery driving as needed.
- Promoting special offers, upsell where appropriate, and build customer relationships.
- Working as part of a team to achieve branch targets and maintain high service standards.
What we're looking for:
- Experience in a similar role (e.g. trade counter, retail, warehouse or sales assistant).
- Basic knowledge of building materials or plastics products is helpful.
- Ability to lift and handle heavy goods.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a team environment.
- Comfortable using computers and point-of-sale systems.
- Numerate and comfortable handling cash transactions.
- Reliable, punctual, and hardworking attitude.
- Driving licence.
