Job Overview
We are seeking an energetic, practical and motivated Outlet Colleague to join our team at our Whatton Furniture Outlet.
This is a varied, hands-on role combining customer service, merchandising, stock handling and warehouse duties.
You will help customers visiting the outlet, maintain and replenish furniture displays, process stock and deliveries and support the smooth day-to-day operation of both the sales floor and warehouse.
As furniture is regularly moved between our warehouse and sales floor, previous forklift experience and your own reliable transport are essential requirements for this position.
Responsibilities
* Greet customers and assist with enquiries in a friendly and professional manner
* Help customers find suitable furniture and support the sales process
* Maintain attractive, well-organised furniture displays
* Replenish the sales floor as stock is sold
* Receive, unload and process incoming furniture deliveries
* Operate a forklift safely to move and store palletised stock
* Break down pallets and identify furniture ready for the sales floor
* Move and position furniture throughout the warehouse and outlet
* Assist with stock management, inventory checks and stock reconciliation
* Price and label furniture accurately
* Prepare customer orders for collection or delivery
* Load and unload furniture from customer and delivery vehicles
* Maintain a clean, organised and safe warehouse and sales environment
* Answer telephone enquiries professionally and provide accurate information
* Work with other team members to achieve sales targets and maintain high standards throughout the outlet
Requirements
Essential:
* Previous forklift experience and confidence operating a forklift safely
* Own reliable transport to travel to and from the Whatton outlet
* Comfortable with the physical requirements of moving and handling furniture
* Reliable and punctual
* Good communication and customer service skills
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
* Ability to work effectively in a busy, changing environment
* Willingness to work across both the retail and warehouse sides of the operation
Previous experience in furniture retail, general retail, warehousing or stock handling would be an advantage but is not essential.
