We are seeking a Rail Management Engineer to lead and manage the Rail Management team to achieve business objectives and performance targets while fostering a safe, engaged, and competent workforce. Oversee inspection, testing, and maintenance programmes, ensuring compliance with standards. Drive improvements in asset performance and efficiency, prioritise work plans, maintain accurate records, and carry out technical inspections, investigations, and quality assurance checks.
Every day will be different, but key responsibilities will include:
- Manage and direct the Rail Management team to achieve business and functional objectives and meet key performance measures.
- Manage development of individuals and the engagement of the team.
- Manage the arrangements for staff safety and competence.
- Identify and implement asset performance, reliability, productivity and efficiency improvement initiatives.
- Develop and agree inspection, testing and maintenance programmes.
- Deliver inspection, testing and work in accordance with the agreed programme.
- Manage the inspection, testing and maintenance of assets to standards.
- Prioritise work arising and agree work plans.
- Accurately update systems, databases and records as required.
- Undertake technical inspections and investigations.
- Undertake an agreed programme of staff surveillance, work quality and asset condition checks.

We are looking for someone who meets the below essential criteria:
- Relevant technical competence in rail management processes and techniques
- Detailed knowledge of relevant standards and procedures
- Knowledge of other functional disciplines
- Knowledge of operational railway environment
- Good interpersonal, influencing, communication and organisation skills
- HNC/ HND or equivalent qualification
